I heard nothing but great things about this place for a while. Finally decided to give it a try and all I can say is WOW. The service was good. As soon as we were sat the server told us their specialty is the deep dish pizza and it takes about 40 minutes to make. I appreciated that heads up because we were hungry and made sure to get appetizers. We got the jalapeño egg rolls and they were amazing! So much flavor! Also had a Caesar salad, which had a great crunch and freshness to it. We got a meat lovers deep dish pizza and it's so flavorful. Even the tomato sauce is rich in flavor. It's definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

My girlfriend and I were looking for deep-dish pizza after leaving a brewery in Echo Park, and after doing a little research, we ended up at Masa. Thankfully, it's only about a 5–10 minute walk from Monkish, making it an easy stop if you're already in the area. One thing I appreciated right away was that the restaurant is very upfront about the wait time for their deep-dish pizzas. As soon as you walk in, they let you know that deep-dish pizzas take about 50 minutes to prepare. That gives you a chance to order immediately and get the process started so you're not surprised later. We ended up ordering one of their meat-heavy deep-dish pizzas. When I initially considered ordering a medium or large, our server warned me that those sizes could easily feed three or four people. Since it was just my girlfriend and me, I confidently said I was hungry and could handle it. I was wrong. We ended up taking about half the pizza home. The portions are huge, but more importantly, the pizza was delicious. If you're a fan of true deep-dish pizza, this place absolutely delivers. My Fiancé recommended me MASA and she had been advocating about Masa for a few months, I am usually skeptical about deep dish pizzas, since the only place I’ve had a delicious Deep Dish pizza is Giordano’s in Las Vegas, other than, well Chicago! The deep dish was alright, however it was super salty. We ordered the ‘lots of meat deep dish’ and unfortunately it had lots of salt. The service was less than acceptable, the server ‘Chris’ was nice, however the bussboy ‘Adrian’ was amazing!!! He helped us with our water, made sure our table was clean, asked us if we we needed anything… etc. Just very attentive. The other 2 female servers however walked past our tables many of times, as if we didn’t exist. They took care of tables and patrons around us but never did we hear any sort of acknowledgement. I don’t like to bring the race card as I think it’s unfair, but it felt a bit privileged biased towards the other lighter skinned patrons. Adrian on the other hand, kept coming back to our table and attending us as if we were local celebrities, even boxed our pizza to go. I didn’t plan to come here the other day; I was walking down Sunset and saw there were some open tables and decided to try it. So glad I did! I had a cute booth towards the back that faced this wall of eclectic framed art. The music was 1930-1950s soft jazz (a personal favorite!) and the ambience was cozy and warm. I tried the baked minestrone, the homemade bread loaf, and avocado caprese. All three were absolutely delicious! I was looking to have a lighter meal, but next time I really want to try the pizzas. I could see how they looked from someone’s table a few feet away and my mouth was watering a little. All in all, great place for a lighter lunch, hearty dinner, even a cute date! Ryan was great- he was my server towards the end, but the other servers that assisted me throughout were also delightful. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!

This place is probably my favorite for deep dish in LA so far. It’s not exactly Chicago level, but that’s expected and honestly it still hits the spot. The deep dish is really good, super filling and worth it, just be ready to wait. It takes about an hour, so don’t come starving or in a rush. They also have this bread and butter so simple but really good. Salads are solid too. The vibe is nice and relaxed, and the staff are friendly which always makes a difference.
